Embrace the gorgeous fall season by registering for the 2013 Run for the Parks 10k in Washington,DC—run 6.2 miles to benefit our National Parks! The first 1500 registrants will be ready for the fall weather with a premium Saucony jacket personalized with the one of a kind Run for the Parks 10k logo!  We expect this event to fill to capacity so make sure to secure your spot!

DATE: Sunday November 3, 2013

TIME: 8:00 a.m.

LOCATION: The Run for the Parks will start and finish in West Potomac Park in Washington DC (just minutes from The National Mall).

COURSE DESCRIPTION: The Run for the Parks is a certified 10k course. This course is flat and fast – perfect for first timers and those looking for a personal best! The race will be electronically timed using the IPICO Sports timing system. There is an official time limit of 80 minutes, or up to 12:52 minute miles to complete the course.

FREE MASSAGES: Runners can enjoy a free massage provided by Fast Track Physical Therapy. Designed to enhance athletic performance and recovery, the Fast Track team will use Sports Massage, Swedish, Deep Tissue & Neuromuscular techniques to help with improved blood flow to your muscles, reduction of scar tissue, and improved tissue elasticity and increased absorption of nutrients.

GREAT SWAG: What better than some FREE fall gear to add to your collection? Participants will receive an official Run for the Parks premium Saucony jacket ($75 retail value!) with their entry. This commemorative piece is limited to the first 1500 registrants while supplies/sizes last.

COLLECTIBLE PIN: The first 1,200 runners to arrive at packet pickup will receive a Run for the Parks 10k pin – as a constant reminder of your achievement! =PR= Race Series lanyards will be available for purchase ($3.00) to begin or add to your =PR= Race Series pin collection!

PARKING: Parking is limited near the race site. Please arrive early to allow for parking and walking to the start. It is recommended that you be dropped off near the race site on race morning.

METRO: The metro begins running at 7:00 am on Sunday. Make sure to get off at either Foggy Bottom or Smithsonian – these are the closest stops to the race site. The Smithsonian stop is about 1 mile from the start area. Walking directions from Smithsonian stop to race.

GEAR CHECK: There will be a bag drop at the race site if you would like to leave your items in a secured place while you enjoy the Run for the Parks 10k course.

AWARDS: The awards ceremony will begin at 9:15 a.m. There will be CASH awards to the top 3 overall males and females ($300, $200, $100). There will be awards to the top three males and females in the following age groups:

  • 14 & under, 15-19, 20-24, 25-29, 30-34, 35-39, 40-44, 45-49, 50-54, 55-59, 60-64, 65-69, 70-74, 75 & over.

Grab your friends and make this a great time for team bonding! There will also be team awards for the top 3 teams. You may register an unlimited number of runners on each team and the top 4 place winners will score for the team (a minimum of one male and one female scorer).

POST RACE: You won’t want to leave right after you cross the finish line! There will be post race food, refreshments, music, and more!

RESULTS: Results will be available immediately after the race and will be posted on www.prraces.com and on our =PR= Race Series Facebook page.

Photos: FREE high-resolution race photos will be available for download from the Potomac River Running Flickr page, so keep an eye out for our on-course photographer and be prepared to strike a pose! We will send an email out notifying you when the pictures are ready.

*Please note: You must pick up your packet (including swag item and collectible pin) at one of the designated times. Packets will not be mailed or reserved for a participant after the race. In addition, awards must be claimed within two weeks of the conclusion of a race.
