Want to run 5 righteous miles this spring? You can do it because you rock the roads! Receive your collectible race pin, jam out to a rock band, enjoy some food and drink, and soak up the fun at the Rockstar 8k!
Run in the 4th annual Rockstar 8k on Sunday, April 28! The course will run through scenic Burke Centre, using Burke Centre Parkway. There is also a One Mile Fun Run if you’d rather rock that distance instead!

SWAG: All pre-registered runners will receive awesome Rockstar 8k short- sleeve, gender-specific technical T-shirts!
COLLECTIBLE PIN: All runners at packet pickup will receive the official Rockstar 8k pin as a constant reminder of your great accomplishment! 2013 =PR= Race Series lanyards will be available for purchase ($3.00) so you can start your race pin collection.
STROLLER FRIENDLY FOR FUN RUN: This race is stroller friendly for the fun run only – not the 8k race.
COURSE TIME LIMIT: The course time limit for the 8k is 75 minutes. This means participants must maintain approximately 15 minute miles to finish the course on time.
AWARDS: There will be awards to the top 3 overall male and female finishers in the 8k. There will also be awards to the top 3 male and female finishers in the following age groups: 14 & under, 15-19, 20-24, 25-29, 30-34, 35-39, 40-44, 45-49, 50-54, 55-59, 60-64, 65-69, 70-74, and 75 & over.
The race will be electronically timed using the IPICO tag system. Full results will be posted following the race. The mile fun run will not be timed.
PHOTOS: FREE high resolution race photos will be available for download from the Potomac River Running Flickr page. Keep an eye out for our on course/finish line photographer and be prepared to strike a pose! We will send an email notifying you when the pictures are ready to be shared.
*Please note: You must pick up your packet (including collectible pins) at one of the designated times. Packets will not be mailed after the race. In addition, awards must be claimed within two weeks of the conclusion of a race.
The Rockstar Race benefits the Celebrate Cherie Scholarship Fund. Cherie Yadao, a physical therapist and manager for Commonwealth Orthopaedics had her life cut short on August 29, 2009 at age 35 after a valiant fight against a rare cancer called extra pulmonary small cell carcinoma. To the end, Cherie lived her life to the fullest and touched so many lives in the process. To know Cherie is to understand her favorite saying “Party like a Rockstar.” The Rockstar Run 8k/1 mile fun run/walk celebrates the essence of Cherie-her spirit of adventure, her tenacity, and her insatiable zest for life. Proceeds from this race will go to the Celebrate Cherie Scholarship Fund to help physical therapy students pursue their dream of helping others as Cherie did.
