The Nearly Naked Mile is fiercer than ever!  There are five 1-Mile options to choose from, based on your goals – there’s one for everyone! You’ll enjoy good beer, delicious Naked Pizza®, music, and all for a great cause!

Presented by the Northern Virginia F.O.O.L.S. and Potomac River Running, join us for this fantastic event!

WHEN & WHERE: November 8, 2014 at the Reston Town Center in Reston, Va. First heat begins at 2 p.m.

NEARLY NAKED RUNNING: Think “family-friendly nearly naked.” It’s time to celebrate feeling comfortable in your own skin! Sport your boxers, sports bras, bikinis, togas, or costumes – don’t be afraid to get creative and have FUN! Need some inspiration? Check out the photos from the 2012 Nearly Naked Mile!

CELEBRATE: At the finish line, runners/walkers will be welcomed by The Northern Virginia Bag Pipers “Pipe.” If you’re at least 21 years of age, you will receive a beer with registration! There will be food and drinks for all participants and their families.

NAKED PIZZA®: Our friends at Naked Pizza will be serving their delicious AND healthy slices! Naked = natural. Naked Pizza’s slices have fewer calories, are made of multi-grains, topped with delicious cheeses and vegetables, contain more protein and less fat that results in the best tasting recovery food!

SWEET SWAG: The first 600 runners to register will receive flannel boxer shorts (gender-specific sizing)!

COLLECTIBLE PIN: The first 800 runners to arrive at packet pickup will receive a Nearly Naked Mile pin – as a constant reminder of the time you ran (nearly) naked!  =PR= Race Series lanyards will be available for purchase ($3.00) to begin or add to your =PR= Race Series pin collection!

HEATS: The open miles will include 6:00-8:00 minutes, 8:00-10:00, and 10:00 and up. Choose a heat that’s perfect for you…One of them has got your name written on it!

AWARDS: Awards will be given to 4 out of 5 heats: the two competitive heats and 6:00-8:00 and 8:00-10:00 heats. No awards will be given to the 10:00 and over open mile. Top 3 overall in the two competitive miles, male & female (Cash prize: $250- $150- $75), Winner in each age group for the two competitive miles, and Top overall male and female and Winner in each age group for the 6:00-8:00 heat and 8:00-10:00 heats.

Nearly Naked Mile robes are given to overall winners in the competitive divisions! There will also be a team competition. Teams can be comprised of an unlimited amount of runners. The first 4 participants of each team scores and a team score must have at least one female and one male. One team will be awarded.

PHOTOS: FREE high resolution race photos will be available  for download from the Potomac River Running Flickr page. Keep an eye out for our on course/finish line photographer and be prepared to strike a pose! We will send an email notifying you when the pictures are ready to be shared.

RACE DAY SCHEDULE:

11:30 am – 1:30 pm On-site registration and packet pickup at =PR= Reston and pre-race party at the Reston Town Center!

2:00 pm Competitive Men (sub 6:00)

2:15 pm Competitive Women  (sub 7:00)

2:30 pm Open Mile (6-8 minute mile)

2:45 pm Open Mile (8-10 minute mile)

3:00 pm Open Mile (Over 10 minute mile)

3:15 pm Awards presentation and post-race party in the beer garden!

Each race is electronically timed using the IPICO tag system.

RUN FOR A CAUSE: Net proceeds from the race support the Burn Center at MedStar Washington Hospital Center, the only adult burn treatment center in the Washington metropolitan area. The Burn Center at MedStar is a 20-bed facility that features a multidisciplinary team approach to burn care that provides comprehensive care for burn victims. They are proud to manage one of the largest outreach and educational programs in the country on burn prevention, burn treatment and burn care. *Please note: You must pick up your packet (including collectible pins) at one of the designated times. Packets will not be mailed or reserved for a participant after the race. In addition, awards must be claimed within two weeks of the conclusion of a race.
