COVID-19 Protocols

We hope to see you out on the course in person on May 9. However, if government guidelines regarding COVID-19 determine it best, the Mother’s Day 4 Miler and 1 Mile may be converted into a virtual race. As with everything these days, we must follow mandates set forth by the State and Local Government.

On race day, use your best judgement. If you have any COVID-19 symptoms or have possibly been recently exposed, please stay home and participate virtually. See additional safety guidelines and protocols below.

  • Please wear your mask anytime you are out of your car before and after the race. You may take it off while running.

  • We ask that runners remain at/near their cars until a few minutes before the start of the race and then remain socially distant from other runners. We also ask spectators be kept to a minimum due to current participation limits. If family travels with you to the race, we ask that they please remain in the car or at a safe/socially distant location during the event. Everyone’s safety is our top priority.

  • The 4 Miler will start at 8am. We will do “rolling” waves of a maximum of 50 people per wave. Once all 50 cross the start line, the next 50 will be allowed into the starting corral, and once settled they will be started. This will continue until all 4 Miler runners have started. We will have the pace signs out to help you line up in the appropriate waves.

  • The 1 Mile race will begin after all 4 Miler runners have started. This will start in the same manner.

  • There will be small bottled water near mile marker 2. We recommend runners carry their own water if needed as well.

  • Please familiarize yourself with the course map and flow map. There will be signage and some course marshals. However, due to restrictions on the number of people, there will be fewer marshals than usual.

  • Once you finish your race there will be tables with water and goodie bags of snacks. Please proceed to the table, pick up your goodie bag and drink, and head out.

  • There will be no printed results. All results will be available online potomac.enmotive.com/results
